Overview
A camera crew catches up with David Brent, the former star of the fictional British series, "The Office" as he now fancies himself a rockstar on the road.
I hate even writing it but this movie was all wrong. First let me say I was a huge fan of The Office, it was a game changer in TV comedy and deserved every accolade thrown at it and when I heard there was to be a movie of how life has moved on for the hapless Brent I was excited. But this was a monotone movie, one level, one joke with no development of supporting characters. In the TV series the pathos of Brent and the exposure of his vulnerability was beautifully revealed as the series progressed and the relationship of the rest of the cast, both with him and each other was exquisite. There was none of that finesse in the movie and we jumped straight from the tediously annoying middle aged man with a fashionable beard who played it big by throwing money at everything and everyone to the vulnerable, lovable man who might just have a chance at a real relationship. There were a few laughs but generally it was overdone, outdated and should have left well alone. Disappointed.
